In his poetry Aftab Iqbal Shamim raises the disastroustreatment of Super powers against the down trodden human societies in different countries of the world. He reveals the methods of "Imperialism" used by the powerful countries to bring the poor nations under control and loot their natural resources. Resultly, the poor remain compelled to work for overt/covert interests of their political masters.

He urges progress in education and technology terming it as vital to change fate of the nation. In this regard thoughts of the poet are found similar as of Allama Iqbal, the national poet of Pakistan. He is hopeful that the nation can bring it's status at-par to the developed countries if it's people work for the cause of national interest. They must know and utilize their own resources and capabilities instead of looking toward IMF and World Bank - like institutions for financial aids.
