She started writing fiction at a time when Urdu fiction had reached many stages of its development and evolution. Her short story “In the Land of Azans" is written in the perspective of Pakistan's ideology. The founding of Pakistan, which was carried out in accordance with Islamic principles, has been recovered in the context of this short story. The fiction makes it clear that the interests of institutions and high officials are hidden behind the so-called Islamic concepts that are seen in the society. Therefore, the proposed research seeks to examine whether the structure of society, ideologically supports or rejects ideology of Pakistan.
Bareera Hamdani Inayat Ullah Hamdani Copyright (c) 2026 Me'yar معیار 2026-06-24 2026-06-24 18 1 1 10 فیضؔ کی شاعری کی نوتاریخی بازیافت http://irigs.iiu.edu.pk:64447/ojs/index.php/meyar/article/view/7588
ABSTRACT:

This article explores the presence of New Historicist elements in the poetry of Faiz Ahmed Faiz, one of the most celebrated voices of Urdu poetry, situating his work within the socio-political and cultural contexts of his time. It examines how Faiz’s verse reflects and critiques historical realities, including colonial legacies, the struggle for independence, socio-economic inequalities, political oppression and post partition disillusionment. New Historicism is a theory that emphasized the interplay between literary texts and their historical, cultural and political contexts, arguing that literature cannot be studied in isolation from the power structures and socio-political discourses that shape it. Drawing on the principles of New Historicism, the study highlights the interplay between literature and history in Faiz’s poetry, showing how is creative expression engages with power structures, collective memory and resistance. By analyzing selected poems, the article demonstrates how Faiz’s literary craft serves as both an artistic and historical document, merging personal emotion with the broader narrative of social and political transformation. Faiz’s poetry is enriched with multi elements and domains, and this historical study of his poetry, perfectly unveils and uncovers all that that aspects. Besides, Faiz’s poetry exemplifies the profound interconnection between literature and history.

Shahbaz Hussain Sumaira Anwar Copyright (c) 2026 Me'yar
In the early nineteenth century, an intellectual and literary movement emerged in Germany that came to be known as the “Oriental Movement.” This movement was marked by a growing interest among German writers and thinkers in Eastern literature, particularly Persian poetry. In the preface to his Persian poetic collection Payam-e-Mashriq (1923), Allama Muhammad Iqbal referred to this trend and recognized it as a literary movement. This article examines the historical background, underlying causes, and major representatives of the movement in Germany. It further argues that, with this movement in view, Iqbal outlined a significant research framework in the preface to Payam-e-Mashriq, highlighting new avenues for the study of Eastern–Western literary and intellectual interactions. This research contributes to comparative literature, intellectual history, and postcolonial studies by underscoring Iqbal’s enduring relevance in cross-cultural exchanges.
Sundas Hashmi Copyright (c) 2026 Me'yar
KHAFEEF MAKHFI ki khwab Beeti is a novel by Mirza Athar Baig whose central theme is parapsychology.
