To analyze a literary piece in the light of psychological aspect is not a new trend in literature studies. Before this article, a large number of such examples exist where literary works are analyzed under different psychological perspectives. Anyhow, a common study shows that usually only one psychological aspect or theory is applied on a character or a literary work and so such character/work is always considered under such theory. The reality is a bit opposite. A character may be analyzed under more than one psychological perspective at a time. In this article, the psycho analysis of selected short stories/characters of Janam Jahanam (2^nd collection) by contemporary Urdu short story writer Muhammad Hameed Shahid is presented under personality theories of Freud and Carl Gustave Jung. It is tried to clear that a single character/ author may represent more than one psychological perspective at a time. One more issue is also cleared that psychological criticism is not strictly prohibited to the personality of the author only. The characters of an author are social products so they are more exhibited in the light of collective unconscious rather author’s personal unconscious.
