Abstract

The objective of the article in hand is to critically and textually analyse the selected Urdu novels with a view to explore and explain the effects of the catastrophic event of 9/11. The accident of 9/11 revolutionized world politics. The media coverage of the unlucky airplanes smashing into the towering World Trade Center was the threshold of the change which could be intensely noticed in the changing trends on the media. The post 9/11 Media frequently portrayed the third world, grappling with problems, especially the attack on Iraq and Afghanistan, ruthless bombing, sectarianism, events of kidnapping, target killings, hatred for the Muslims residing in the West, ubiquitous uncertainty, targeted operations, and the issues like those of the missing persons. Urdu novel written after the accident of 9/11 encompassed the mentioned aftermaths. The textual citations in the article indicate how comprehensively the Urdu novel has put the whole accident itself and the aftereffects into a nutshell.
