The Intellectual Crisis of the Ummah
Revisiting the Past Patterns of Thought
Abstract
These notes are a slightly revised version of a keynote address delivered by the author at a two-day international conference on the “Intellectual Crises of the Muslim Ummah: Rethinking Traditional Solutions,” held at the Aligarh Muslim University, India, on April 6-7, 2015.
Publication of material in the journal means that the author assigns copyright to Islamic Studies including the rights to electronic publishing. This is, inter alia, to ensure the efficient handling of requests from third parties to reproduce articles as well as to enable wide dissemination of the published material.
