These hadiths are the field of scholarly discourse among the scholars of Islam۔ Some modern scholars have rejected these hadiths saying that they are not proven by reliable sources, but authentic Islamic researchers of the past and present accepted these hadiths and did not consider the attitude of authenticating them to be correct. If viewed objectively, it is the second attitude that is correct. However, what was the reason for this prohibition of Prophet Muhammad (may Allah bless him and grant him peace), is another dilemma that occurred to Islamic scholars in this chapter, from the great commentator of hadith, Hafiz Ibn Hajar Asqalani, to the famous historian of the recent past, Shibli Nomani, they seem confused in this debate and they could not give any proper justification for this prohibition. In this paper, the author has clarified the authentic position of the relevant hadiths and also discussed their correct justification. And it has been stated that the reason for this prohibition is very clear and unambiguous, which is clearly indicated by the words of the relevant hadiths themselves. Also, what should be the right attitude in terms of rejecting or accepting the Bible quotes, in some of the Prophetic hadiths, there are some manners and points mentioned in this regard, which, unfortunately, are badly neglected by some modern Muslim writers. Thus, they reflect an unmoderate attitude of denial or acception when speaking from the Bible. The author also mentions his correspondence with the editors of some religious magazines in which some of his irresponsible comments regarding the Bible were criticized.
Sirah of the Prophet Muhammad (SAW) is considered to be among the basic sources of Islamic Jurisprudence as well as a practical source of understanding Quranic Verses, Maqasid al Sharia and Dawah Strategies. Throughout Islamic history, considerable number of scholars have contributed through their writings in conveying and disseminating life , Akhlaq, Khasais, Shamail , Dalail and other topics related to the Sirah of Holy Prophet Muhammad (SAW). Family of Ibn-e-Jama’ah is one of them, which contributed through four books on Sirah. Three out of these books have been selected for a detailed review in this article. Abdul Aziz Bin Muhammad (767 AD) Wrote a comprehensive précis of life and belongings of the Holy Prophet(SAW) in the name of Al Mukhtasar al Kabir and then summarized as Al Mukhtasar al Saghir. His grand son Muhammad Bin Abu Bakar, Afterwards, summarized the both books in his book namely ”Al Ghurar wa al Durrar fi Sirat e Khair al Bashar “. This article elaborates bibliographic details, textual review and analytic comparison of the three afore mentioned books and methodology of worthy authors. Textual validity was confirmed through comparison of different prints and manuscripts of the book. Conclusions have also been drawn by careful comparative analysis of the three book. Detailed analysis suggests that the original books is more comprehensive and concise among short books on Sirah. The book has been authored with balanced arrangement of relevant material, derived through authentic and reliable sources. Both abridgements, however, lost comprehensiveness of the original work while first of the both is comparatively better for provision of basic information regarding Sirah of the Prophet (SAW).

Al-Shāf‘ī’s theory of qiyās is declared to be comparable with that of Dawūd al Ẓahirī by Mr. Imran Nyazee. To reach to this result, he has benchmarked al-Shāf‘ī against al Ghazālī’s theory of suitability (munāsabah), moreover he has created an impression that al Ghazālī’s theory of suitability was derived from the ideas of al-Dabūsī, a Hanafī jurist. This article explains the theory of qiyās expounded by the elders (mashaikh) of the Ḥanafī School to compare it with al-Ghazālī’s theory of suitability. We maintain that the Ḥanafī theory of qiyās was inherently a limited theory that sought to, in fact, reject suitability as the criterion for rendering qiyās. Hence, when benchmarked against al Ghazālī’s theory of suitability, the very Ḥanafī theory also comes under the same criticism of literalism that Mr. Nyazee launches against al-Shāf‘ī. Finally, declaring al-Dabūsī as the key founder of the theory of suitability is exaggerative.
In the tenth century AH, the great Sufi Scholar of Gujarat, Sheikh Ali Muttaqi and his disciples gained popularity for their services in the reformation of society. With his religious knowledge, spiritual insight and bounty, he not only created an impact on Gujarat and India but on the whole Muslim world. Apart from training and providing guidance to his disciples, he also added immense knowledge to the Islamic literature by writing valuable books on Hadith, Sufism and other Islamic sciences. He pointed out the erroneous mistakes in the works of contemporary scholars, warned against the flaws in prevailing Sufism, redressed them and waged jihad against anti-Islamic beliefs and movements arising in the society through providing accurate information and correct knowledge. He trained his disciples and followers in a balanced way and in accordance to the true teachings of Islam. His able disciples then propagated his mission by following his teachings and foot prints and continued to make great efforts to eradicate the innovations and violations in the society. While doing so, they did not hesitate to sacrifice their lives and wealth as well. The article in hand, gives a brief and comprehensive overview of these services of Sheikh Ali Muttaqi and his close disciples.
Muhammad Iqbal is entitled as the Poet of East; however, his thoughts are far beyond geographical barriers. His works play an important role in bridging the gaps between East and West. He influences a number of people through his poetry. One of them is Maryam Jameelah. She is an American Jewish lady who, after her conversion to Islam, migrates to Pakistan. While analyzing her conversion, most of the scholars argue that her study of the Holy Quran, works of Muhammad Asad, the concept of the hereafter, and her meetings with American Muslims result in her conversion to Islam. It is often ignored that she is also influenced by Iqbal's works. By analyzing both published and unpublished writings of Jameelah, the current study argues that along with other mentioned factors, the study of Iqbal's poetry also played a pivotal role in her conversion to Islam. She praises the poetic works of Iqbal and recognizes them as a symbol of spirituality and religiosity. However, she criticizes most of his prose works and considers them influenced by the philosophies of modernism.
Zohaib Ahmad Copyright (c) 2024 FIKR-O NAZAR فکر ونظر http://irigs.iiu.edu.pk:64447/ojs/index.php/irifikronazar/article/view/2021 Sun, 31 Mar 2024 00:00:00 +0500
