Qur’ānic Approaches to the Study of Religions and Their Importance in the Contemporary Era
Abstract
The Study of Religion has been one of the most stimulating activities in different ages of the human history. The Qur’ān, being the ultimate source of knowledge for Muslims, has also discussed various aspects of some of the significant religions of the world. It criticizes those beliefs and practices which are not in line with the divine message, while affirming those which are commendable in the eyes of God. It also guides Muslims on how to approach religion as a worldwide phenomenon. This article is an attempt to articulate the Qur’ānic view of religion along with highlighting it various approaches to the phenomenon of religion.
It is a condition of publication in this journal that authors assign copyright or license publication rights of their articles to the Islamic Research Institute, International Islamic University, Islamabad. This enables IRI to ensure full copyright protection and to disseminate the article, and of course the journal, to the widest possible readership in print and electronic formats as appropriate.
