Abstract

This study presents an analytical and critical examination of Tārīkh da Sardār Ālam Muhammad (peace be on him), an unpublished Pashto manuscript authored by the distinguished scholar Syed Rohullah (1901–2004). The work constitutes a significant contribution to Pashto Seerah literature, offering a comprehensive narrative of the Prophet Muhammad’s (peace be on him) life, character, and historical mission. Drawing on primary Islamic sources—including the Qur’an, canonical Hadith collections, classical Seerah texts, and juridical literature—the author situates the Prophet’s (peace be on him) biography within a broad moral, social, and civilizational framework. The manuscript integrates theological reflection with historical narration, thereby functioning simultaneously as a text of Seerah, devotional edification, and fiqh al-sīrah. The present study evaluates the author’s methodological choices, source utilization, narrative structure, and thematic emphases. Particular attention is given to his treatment of lineage, early life, education, prophetic mission, migration, military engagements, and the ethical and political reforms instituted by the Prophet (peace be on him). The manuscript’s extended discussions on Hijrah, the virtues of the Prophet’s (peace be on him) Companions, the role of the scribes of revelation, and the legal-ethical implications of Seerah events further underscore its scholarly ambition.
