Abstract

Islam conquered the nations by its universal message throughout the history. The preaching force of Islam has always been the main reason of its global spread. However, the literature explaining the methodology of da‘wah that originated in the twentieth-century subcontinent is unprecedented in its nature. This literature was produced against the backdrop of Islamic revivalist thought that presented Islam as a complete code of life. Maulana Amin A╒san Islahi’s book Da‘vat-i Din aur us ka Tariq-i Kar is a fundamental work on this topic. This book is first of its kind on the topic of da‘wah-methodology in Islamic literary history. The book addresses the methodology of da‘wah and explains its different aspects in light of the Qur’an, sayings of the holy Prophet (peace be upon him) and the biographies of the Prophets. This paper explains the Islamic revivalist background of the twentieth century that brought about da‘wah-methodology literature developed by I╖la╒i and examines different aspects of his work.
