The opportunities and circumstances he has had have been rare for non-traditional religious figures, and he has been able to flourish despite being within the traditional religious framework. His unique perspective on ḥadīth and sunnah is a significant aspect of his thought, and his disagreements with traditional scholars stem from this understanding. While his engagement with traditional scholars has been broad, his concept of ḥadīth and sunnah is the key factor that distinguishes him.
