Abstract
Qawaid Fiqhiyyah is an important field of Islamic law that has gained a considerable amount of interest and attention in the past few years from the Muslim scholars. In the modern period, the Muslim jurists as well as the Fiqh institutions engaging in ijtih┐d activity, heavily relied on the Qawaid in deriving religious rulings and fat┐w┐. A number of significant works on Qawaid have appeared in the last period in the Arabic language. Urdu scholarship has also paid attention to the topic and different publications have come up in this regard. This article focuses on an assortment of fifteen books and translations in the Urdu language penned by different scholars. It evaluates their academic worth and points to the deficiencies which should be made up for their betterment.
