Abstract
Mawlana Abdul Majid Daryabadi was not only a prolific writer but also a distinguished scholar of Sirah. His writings in this respect are a valuable addition to Sirah literature. He was exceptionally aware of the body of writings produced by Orientalists on Sirah due to his deep understanding of western research paradigm. In his writings he used to expose, from time to time, the discriminatory and antagonistic attitude of Orientalists toward Islam. Two of his works, namely Islam par Mustashriqin ki Nazr-i Karam and Sirat-i Nabavi aur ‘Ulama’╚ Farang must be specially mentioned in this regard. This paper establishes, while focusing on the writings of Mawlana and some modern Orientalists, that their attitude of raising doubts about the foundations of Islam has not changed much.
