Abstract

South Asia has been explored by the Europeans since the ancient times. It has been a land of opportunities for the European nations and they have always been attracted towards its versatility, abundance of resources, and riches. There are a number of evidences in the form of written narratives that affirm the fact that South Asia has been a region where adventurers and fortune-seekers found attraction throughout history. This article studies how the people of two regions—South Asia and Europe—interacted with each other in different periods.  Using some rare sources, it chronologically traces civilizational interaction between the two regions. The article covers the period from the ancient times to the first half of the eighteenth century.
