An introductory analysis of the merits of Taodhīḥ ‘l Qur’ān
Abstract
Taodhīḥ ‘l Qur’ān is an urdu translation of the Holy Qur’ān by a well-known scholar and intectual Mufti Muhammad Taqi Usmani. Another name of this transltion is “Aasan Tarjama Qur’ān (An Easy Qur’ānic Translation)” which is more popular and famous. This article presents an introductory analysis of the merits of this translation. The main aim of this article is to introduce this Qur’ānic translation and its merits, as well as an analysis of these merits. Taodhīḥ ‘l Qur’ān contains a lot of merits, qualities and characteristics. This is inspired by and derived from the urdu Qur’ānic transltion of Shah Abdul Qadir Dehlvi. Its language is appropriate, simple, polite, and effective. The reader feels at home and ease while reading this translation. The translator has used very delicate words in this translation. The vocabulary is so attractive that every single student prefers this translation. The translator helped the readers in understanding the teaching of Qur’ān by using simple wording. He successfully translated it eloquently, concisely, and briefly. The meaning, aim and purpose of the Qur’ānic text are depicted and highlighted in this Urdu translation. Merits and attractiveness have been inculcated and rest of the books are been considered in this translation. This is not a literal but expeditionary and contextual translation. However, the exposition is been bracketed at many places to distinguish from the translation. The translator along with translation explained it precisely which has enhanced its beauty and value. This translation is one of the best and it is very helpful in learning of Qur’ān in Urdu. In short, this translation as a whole posse all good qualities and merits which are necessary for an excellent translation. Because of these good qualities and merits, this translation is very popular and beloved in the masses irrespective of any discrimination of learning and intellectual level.
