Abstract

Advertisement is an important component of contemporary marketing strategies adopted by business sector. Massive resources are routinely reserved for the advertisements of different products and services. Due to unprecedented growth of advertisement sector, regulators have formulated stringent guidelines and policy directives to ensure that misleading and false advertisements do not happen. This is particularly applicable in the area of advertisement related to medical products and services. It is universally recognized that the very nature of medical products and services require a robust regulatory mechanism which can govern all aspects of marketing and advertisements. This article is an attempt to review the medical advertisement phenomenon from Sharī’ah perspective. It deals with the general principles and rules governing the idea of medical advertisements.
