Abstract
The field of the Quranic Studies in the Indian Subcontinent has been the center of keen interest among distinguished scholars. The movement of returning to the Qur‘an (Ta╒rik-e Ruju’ ila ’al-Qur’an) in this territory is attributed to Imam Shah Waliullah Dehlvi (1703-1762), who translated the Holy Qur’an into Persian and penned various other exegetical works as well. Mawlana ‘Ubaidullah Sndhi is among the scholars who devoted their lives for the advancement of the movement of Shah Waliullah . Among his many students, a renowned and prolific scholar is Mawlana Ghulam Mustafa Qasmi. He translated, annotated and interpreted the works of other scholars like Shah Waliullah and ‘Ubaidullah Sndhi. He also embarked upon the task of rendering the Persian Quranic translation of Shah Waliullah into Sindhi language but could not accomplish it. In this article, an extensive survey and critical analysis of Mawlana Qasmi’s work in the field of Quranic Study has been carried out.It is a condition of publication in this journal that authors assign copyright or license publication rights of their articles to the Islamic Research Institute, International Islamic University, Islamabad. This enables IRI to ensure full copyright protection and to disseminate the article, and of course the journal, to the widest possible readership in print and electronic formats as appropriate. Furthermore, the authors are required to secure permission if they want to reproduce any figure, table, or extract from the text of another source.
