Author Guidelines

Manuscript Preparation

  1. The manuscripts submitted to Islamabad Law Review must be original contributions of the author(s) and must not be plagiarized or generated through AI tools.
  2. As per HEC policy Islamabad Law Review allows less than 19% similarity index for an article to be evaluated and published.
  3. The manuscripts must not be under consideration for publication elsewhere.
  4. The manuscripts are accepted in English, Urdu, and Arabic languages.
  5. To facilitate an anonymous review process, a removable cover page must be added. Place the title, author name(s), affiliation(s), contact information with e-mail, phone/fax number for the corresponding author, and a biographical sketch for each author on the cover page. The cover page must not be numbered.
  6. Enclose an updated CV along with the manuscript.
  7. The title of the manuscript must be concise, informative; and must align with the body content.
  8. No abstract is required for Short Notes, Book Reviews, or Commentaries.
  9. Provide 5 to 8 keywords after the abstract, avoiding general and plural terms, and multiple concepts (e.g. avoid ‘and’, ‘of’). Keywords should not repeat the title of the manuscript.
  10. Send only MS Word files. PDF/other formats will not be accepted.
  11. When submitting a paper for review, include properly numbered tables and figures in the manuscript file. DO NOT SEND MULTIPLE FILES.
  12. Authors are urged to write as concisely as possible, but not at the expense of clarity. The preferred lengths of submissions (inclusive of footnotes) are as follows:
  13. Articles 6000-12000 words
  14. Short Notes/Case Comments 3000-5000 words
  15. Book Reviews 1000-2000 words
  16. Essays 2000-3000 words

Formatting of Manuscript

  1. Font Times New Roman
  2. Body Text Style – Normal, Font Size – 12 pt., Justified, Line Spacing – 1.5.
  3. Footnote Style – Normal, Font Size – 10 pt., Justified, Line Spacing – Single.
  4. Indentation – Special (select First line, by 0.5 Inches or 1.27 cm).
  5. Italicization Only for foreign terms, (like Arabic or Latin), or legal maxims.
  6. Headings Divide the manuscript into clearly defined sections as under.
  7. Heading [Style – Heading 1, Font Size – 13 pt. Bold, Alignment – Left].

1.1. Sub-Heading [Style – Heading 2, Font Size – 12 pt. Bold, Alignment – Left]

1.1.1. Sub-Heading [Style – Heading 3, Font Size – 12 pt. Bold, Alignment – Left]

Note: The abstract is not included in the section numbering.

Instructions about Abstract

  1. Each manuscript must include an abstract of approximately 200 – 250 words.
  2. The abstract should be concise and factual and it should have a structured form.
  3. It should state the research question/issue, objective, methodology, and principal results/findings of the research briefly.
  4. References and abbreviations should be avoided in the abstract.

References

  1. Contributors must use footnotes rather than endnotes.
  2. Footnotes should conform to The Chicago Manual of Style (16th. ed.).

Transliteration

  1. Foreign terms in the manuscripts must be transliterated

Copy-editing

The Editorial team reserves the right to copy-edit the manuscripts and make appropriate alterations.

Manuscript Submission
