الملخص

Imam Al-Shafi'i has faced significant criticism from ancient times to the present, particularly concerning various aspects of his scholarly contributions. Among the most prominent critiques are objections regarding his knowledge of Hadith, his status within the discipline, and the stance of Hadith scholars toward him. These critiques originated during his lifetime and have continued to resurface across the centuries. Notable responses to these criticisms were offered by esteemed scholars such as Al-Bayhaqi and Al-Khatib Al-Baghdadi, who authored works addressing these objections and providing valuable insights still relevant today. Critics often highlight specific issues related to Hadith studies, including Yahya ibn Ma'in's critique of Al-Shafi'i and the absence of his narrations in the collections of Al-Bukhari and Muslim. This article aims to respond to these criticisms, contextualize the actions of Hadith scholars, and provide an appropriate historical and scholarly perspective.
