Research Methodology: A Critical Analysis of Contemporary Islamic Sciences Methodology in Southeast Asia
الملخص
This paper critically examines the research methodology employed in Islamic Studies within Southeast Asia, highlighting a significant gap in methodological consistency compared to other academic disciplines. Despite the field's critical role in addressing challenges within the Muslim world, academic institutions frequently overlook the need for robust methodologies. While traditional approaches have their merits, they often fall short in terms of innovation, efficiency, and effectiveness, leading to research difficulties for scholars and students. This study evaluates both traditional and Western research methodologies within an Islamic epistemological framework, identifying their respective strengths and weaknesses. It ultimately advocates for the development of a hybrid model that integrates the best aspects of both approaches. Such a model has the potential to revitalize research in Islamic Studies and enhance its ability to address contemporary issues facing Muslim communities in Southeast Asia and beyond.
