الملخص
This article aims to examine the methodology of Ḥāfiẓ Ibn Rajab al-Ḥanbalī in his treatise al-Ḥikam al-Jadīrah bi ’l-Idhā‘ah min Qawl al-Nabī Ṣallā Allāh ‘alayhi wa Sallama Bu‘ithtu bi ’l-Sayf bayn yaday al-Sā‘ah. Since the ḥadīth is the second important source of Islamic teachings and laws after the Qur’ān, Muslim scholars worked hard from the very beginning to memorize, understand, and preserve it. One of the prominent names among these scholars is of Ḥāfiẓ Ibn Rajab al-Ḥanbalī, who authored many books on this subject. The methodology of Ibn Rajab is unique in terms of his critical assessment of ḥadīths from the aspects of their text and chains. Therefore, this research work has focused on his methodology in the light of his famous treatise al-Ḥikam al-Jadīrah bi ’l-Idhā‘ah.
