الملخص

Numerous tales have been written about events that took place in the world. Some of these events were cheerful that would bring joy to the readers. On the other hand, some of them were painful causing grief and sorrow. The more knowledge we possess, the more we prosper and our cultural progress. Thus, we developed the interest and the skills to write down the stories about events that took place in our time. Nevertheless, it seems that in the recent era all that we wrote about was wars, displacements and grief. The closer the literature was to reality, the more accurate and alive it was. In recent days, Novel writing has replaced poetry. In this study, I discuss a novel that is closely related to the events of our present. It tells the stories of the present days and the near past. The novel is written by an Egyptian writer Samia Ahmad and is titled Laḥn al-‘Āṣī (Melody of the Sinner). The author has portrayed the adverse effects of war and displacement on Syrian children and youngsters and explained their serious psychological problems. This study discusses the extent of the author’s success, her vast knowledge of the events of our days, and her ability to penetrate the human psyche with various capacities.
