Gender and Translation: Challenges and Solutions
الملخص
This study explains the mutual relationship between translation studies and gender studies. It highlighted the term gender, its literal and lexical meaning by focusing on its historical evolution. Furthermore, it discusses various gender issues relating to translation. It emphasizes the challenges and problems of translation due to grammatical and social gender. The problems of translation relating to pronominal gender have been discussed as well. Moreover, this study explains the writing phenomenon of neutral gender. Strategies and possible solutions to various challenges and problems faced by a translator during rendering texts based on gender have also been discussed. The paper concludes with some recommendations and findings.
