It first outlines the Qur’anic vision of the trustworthiness of the People of the Book as articulated in the verse, then surveys and analyzes the major trends in its interpretation. The study employs inductive, analytical, and comparative methods to trace exegetical trends, examine their premises, and assess their alignment with the verse’s semantic scope. The findings identify four principal approaches: restrictive contextualization, the maqāṣid-based (objectives-oriented) approach, the juristic approach, and the application of the verse to contemporary reality. These approaches may appear individually in some commentaries or in combination within others. The study shows that applying the verse to lived reality highlights its ongoing ethical and reformative function, as claims of permissibility may reappear within Muslim societies under the guise of jurisprudence, custom, or interest. Within the maqāṣid-based and applied approaches, the verse becomes a lasting criterion for evaluating moral deviations rather than a mere historical description. The study recommends further research on exegetical approaches to verses governing relations with the “other” to better activate the Qur’an’s ethical objectives.
This article explores the Qur’anic parable of the spider’s house (Qur’an 29:41) from a socio-religious perspective, highlighting its symbolic dimensions related to family disintegration and the absence of cohesion in contemporary familial structures. The central inquiry is whether the “spider’s house” can be read as a metaphor for a dysfunctional family and what educational and social messages this metaphor conveys. Adopting an analytical-exegetical methodology, the research integrates textual analysis of the Qur’an with religious discourse and contextual social interpretation. It engages both classical and contemporary exegetical sources, including Fi Zilal al-Qur’an and al-Munir, while also drawing on insights from family sociology. Notably, the study utilizes Peter Connolly’s Approaches to the Study of Religion to examine the impact of disrupted roles and internal conflicts within the family structure. The findings suggest that the spider’s house is not only physically fragile but also symbolizes a household marked by imbalance and the absence of mercy, often dominated by the female spider, which in some species kills the male. Beyond addressing theological contexts, the parable conveys ethical guidance on the necessity of building families rooted in faith, solidarity, and balanced roles. The study recommends fostering interdisciplinary approaches to Qur’anic exegesis to address contemporary family challenges in Muslim societies.

Despite the growing number of conferences and resolutions addressing contemporary medical issues, these topics have not received the same scholarly attention as Islamic financial transactions. In light of the rapid advancement of modern medicine and the increasing emergence of novel bioethical questions, there is a pressing need to analyze medical issues from an Islamic juristic perspective in order to identify the foundational legal principles upon which their rulings are established. This study aims to examine the juristic foundations underlying the rulings on contemporary medical issues issued by the International Islamic Fiqh Academy. The research undertakes a comprehensive examination of all the Academy’s resolutions related to medical matters, totaling 238 resolutions. Through an inductive and analytical investigation of these resolutions and the scholarly discussions surrounding them, the study seeks to identify the governing juristic principles that regulate contemporary medical rulings. More specifically, the study addresses the following questions: (1) What are the juristic foundations underlying the rulings on contemporary medical developments issued by the International Islamic Fiqh Academy? and (2) Which contemporary medical issues may be categorized within these juristic foundations? The research adopts inductive, analytical, and comparative methodologies. The study concludes that the juristic resolutions issued by the Academy in the medical field—comprising twenty-eight major rulings—may be traced back to ten principal juristic foundations. Furthermore, the study identifies twenty-eight contemporary medical issues and classifies them according to these ten juristic foundations.
Muhammad Said bin Khalil Al-Mujahed Copyright (c) 2026 الدراسات الإسلامية https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc/4.0 http://irigs.iiu.edu.pk:64447/ojs/index.php/aldirasatalislamiyyah/article/view/7574 Tue, 19 May 2026 00:00:00 +0500 الحيلة والتورية في غزوات الرسول صلى الله عليه وسلم http://irigs.iiu.edu.pk:64447/ojs/index.php/aldirasatalislamiyyah/article/view/3336
The researcher adopts a descriptive methodology, drawing upon the views and interpretations of classical and contemporary scholars on the subject. The study addresses a sensitive and significant issue, namely the concept of stratagems (ḥiyal) in warfare, which in its general sense may imply deviation from sound moral and ethical principles. However, upon closer examination, Islamic jurisprudential analysis distinguishes between permissible and impermissible forms of stratagem. Through an in-depth analysis of the Prophet’s military expeditions and authentic Prophetic traditions, the study concludes that certain forms of legitimate stratagem and tactical ambiguity were employed in warfare against non-Muslim adversaries. These strategies are understood within the framework of psychological warfare and military effectiveness, contributing to strategic advantage without violating ethical boundaries.
This paper examines the phenomenon of religious construction and transformation as an intellectual and theological process through which original revealed religions are reinterpreted and reshaped into new doctrinal systems. The study investigates the foundational mechanisms and methodologies employed by religious reformulators to alter the essential teachings of revealed faiths and establish alternative theological frameworks. To achieve this objective, the paper adopts a comparative analytical approach through the examination of two distinct models: Twelver Shi‘ism and Pauline Christianity, while taking into consideration the unique characteristics and historical contexts of each case. The study demonstrates that Christianity in its Pauline formulation differs fundamentally from the original teachings of Jesus Christ in matters related to monotheism, prophethood, the purpose of human existence, and religious rituals. Likewise, the image of Islam constructed within the Twelver Shi‘ite framework is shown to differ significantly from the Islam presented in the The Qur’an and the Sunnah of Prophet Muhammad.

The paper further identifies several major foundations upon which the process of religious transformation and distortion is based. Among the most significant are the claim of the continuity of revelation, the undermining of original doctrinal foundations, the adoption of esotericism and secrecy, the transformation of historical grievances into central theological narratives, and the institutionalization of new rituals and forms of worship. The study concludes that these mechanisms collectively contribute to the reconstruction of religious identity and the emergence of doctrinal systems that diverge substantially from their original revealed sources.
yosra Majid Al-zaidan Copyright (c) 2026 الدراسات الإسلامية https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc/4.0 http://irigs.iiu.edu.pk:64447/ojs/index.php/aldirasatalislamiyyah/article/view/7302 Tue, 19 May 2026 00:00:00 +0500
