Rather, the project drew deeply on biblical narratives and theological constructs that reimagined Palestine as the “Promised Land” and the “Holy Land.” The study analyzes key myths, including the “Divine Promise of the Land,” the concept of the “Chosen People,” and the notion of the “Return to Zion,” demonstrating how these ideas were mobilized to construct a religiously grounded political vision. Furthermore, the paper explores how these narratives were reinforced within Protestant Christian thought, particularly through the development of Christian Zionism, which provided additional theological and ideological support. The study concludes that these religious myths were not merely abstract theological beliefs, but were actively instrumentalized as political tools that contributed to legitimizing and facilitating the establishment of Israel, especially with the backing of Western powers.

2026-01-29T15:31:56+05:00 Nasiruddin Al-Shaer naser.shaer@najah.edu Doha Iad Naerat doha.naerat@najah.edu
The science of legal maxims (al-qawāʿid al-fiqhiyyah) is among the most significant disciplines in Islamic jurisprudence, as it organizes subsidiary rulings, facilitates their retrieval, and aids in deriving judgments for contemporary issues. It also contributes to developing juristic aptitude and deepening the understanding of methods of legal reasoning and the objectives of Sharīʿah. In this context, a central question arises: to what extent is it legitimate to treat legal maxims as independent evidences from which rulings may be derived, particularly in addressing new and emerging cases? This study investigates the views of contemporary scholars on the authoritativeness of legal maxims and compares them with the approaches of classical jurists. The scope of the research is limited to examining the probative value of legal maxims and their validity as tools of legal reasoning in relation to contemporary issues, excluding other aspects of the discipline. The study adopts a descriptive, analytical, and critical methodology, based on collecting, analyzing, and evaluating the arguments and positions advanced by both classical and modern scholars. The paper is structured into four main sections: an introduction to legal maxims, a survey and analysis of scholarly opinions, a critical discussion of their evidence and arguments, and a comparative evaluation leading to a reasoned preference, along with outlining the conditions and parameters governing their use in legal reasoning. The study concludes that it is permissible to employ legal maxims as evidentiary tools under specific conditions, particularly when they are rooted in explicit scriptural texts, widely accepted among scholars, or formally adopted within legal frameworks.
2026-02-10T15:18:33+05:00 Asma bent Fathi Jamaa asma.jemaa@gmail.com
This article explores the rejection of discrimination and racism in the Prophetic Sīrah, highlighting the ethical model exemplified by Prophet Muhammad ﷺ. Bakathir’s dramatic works present a range of characters who embody moral values rooted in the Islamic ethical system, derived from the Quran and the Sunnah. These values are vividly manifested through historical figures whose actions, marked by compassion and justice, highlight the role of moral conduct in shaping history. The study further explores the narrative power of historical drama in conveying ethical principles, demonstrating how stories and theatrical representations influence readers and audiences indirectly. Through emotional engagement with characters and events, moral values are internalized, often subconsciously. Accordingly, the article underscores the significance of Bakathir’s plays as an effective medium for moral education and cultural transmission, emphasizing their importance as a subject of scholarly inquiry.

2026-03-30T15:34:44+05:00 Abdul Majid Nadeem majid.arabic@pu.edu.pk Umar Farooq Muhammad Abbas majid.arabic@pu.edu.pk
This article describes the fact that literary genres and related sciences have a close connection with each other in different languages of the East and the West. The article attaches great importance to this similarity with special reference to the science of prosody. Various examples from Eastern and Western languages prove this supposition in actual fact. Origination of Arabic, Persian, Hindi, Urdu, and English prosodies is illuminated. Prosodic circles and poetic meters in Arabic have been expounded as they were assumed in Persian and Urdu afterwards. Mere coincident semblance is also noticed. Illustrations for prosodic meters in Arabic, Persian, Hindi, Urdu, English, and Japanese, are provided along with their scansion to find the conformity to the prosodic rules in most of the languages by and large. Also, it has been elucidated that Al-Khalil, to whom the honour of originating the Arabic Prosody is attributed, didn’t envisage it out of nothing (ex nihilo), just like is the case in other human and physical sciences/ disciplines. An examble of rhetoric is also given to illustrate the same fact that most of the sciences have close similarity in different languages, be that by way of influence or is merely a matter of semblance.
2025-12-30T00:00:00+05:00 Copyright (c) 2026 الدراسات الإسلامية
