Abstract

The present research aims at elaborating the structural patterns of the sentence and analysing the pronouns and semantic links in the text of the Qur’ān, as applied by Maḥmūd b.‘Umar al-Zamakhsharī (d. 467 AH) and Abū Ḥayyān Muḥammad b. Yūsuf (d. 654 AH) in their well-known Qur’ānic commentaries. They are considered authority in this regard. In Arabic language, the syntax studies the relation between the words in a structure. The semantic link of the pronouns is an important area of research. This includes the link of relevant sentence with its relative pronoun, the link of predicate-clause with its nominal subject, the link of clause describing situation with its noun, the link of the adjective-clause with its noun, and the link of explanatory sentence with its passive. The method of this study is textual, analytical, and critical. Moreover, related primary and secondary sources have been consulted.
