Abstract

This article examines the historical plays of Ali Ahmad Bakathir, focusing on their engagement with pivotal historical events that contributed to major transformations in world history, particularly the spread of Islam across different regions. Bakathir’s dramatic works present a range of characters who embody moral values rooted in the Islamic ethical system, derived from the Quran and the Sunnah. These values are vividly manifested through historical figures whose actions, marked by compassion and justice, highlight the role of moral conduct in shaping history. The study further explores the narrative power of historical drama in conveying ethical principles, demonstrating how stories and theatrical representations influence readers and audiences indirectly. Through emotional engagement with characters and events, moral values are internalized, often subconsciously. Accordingly, the article underscores the significance of Bakathir’s plays as an effective medium for moral education and cultural transmission, emphasizing their importance as a subject of scholarly inquiry.
