Abstract

This study examines the significance of Qur’anic contextualization in shaping deeper semantic and thematic layers within the narrative of Prophet Lūṭ (peace be upon him), as depicted across eight distinct chapters of the Holy Qur’an:  Sūrah Al-A‘rāf, Al-Ḥijr, Hūd, Al-Shuʿarāʾ, Al-Naml, Al-ʿAnkabūt, Aṣ-Ṣāffāt, and Sūrah Al-Qamar. Through a close examination of these Sūrah, the research highlights how the episodes related to Prophet Lūṭ (peace be upon him) are not merely repeated accounts but are deliberately integrated within the thematic and structural framework of each chapter. The analysis reveals that the story’s positioning within each Sūrah is not incidental but serves specific rhetorical, theological, and moral functions consistent with the overarching aims of the respective Sūrah. The study affirms that a holistic and coherent understanding of the Qur’anic narrative can only be achieved through a contextual reading, wherein the internal unity of surah themes and their narrative components is preserved. This contextual integration of Prophet Lūṭ’s story enhances the Qur’an’s literary and structural coherence, illustrating its unique compositional design and the dynamic interplay between story and Sūrah.
