This study examines the diverse methodologies employed by scholars in Islamic Da‘wah, highlighting the key differences among them. It emphasises that the holistic development of a preacher requires a focus on four dimensions: knowledge, skills, values, and preaching principles. Using a descriptive and comparative approach, the study analyses literature on the science of Da‘wah published during 2014-2024, organizing it into thematic categories based on shared characteristics. The findings reveal four major approaches to Islamic propagation: The Qur’anic narrative approach, which constitutes most of the literature, comprehensively explores all four dimensions. Although less prominent, the prophetic narrative approach primarily addresses the skills and values essential for preachers. The heritage-based approach draws on classical Islamic texts but remains underrepresented, with limited contributions to the field. Finally, the humanities-based approach explores interdisciplinary connections, particularly with mass communication and psychology, offering valuable insights, especially in field research, but with a narrower focus. This study highlights the need for further exploration of these approaches to enhance the science of Islamic propagation and its methodology.
